| We are experiencing problems w/ son's CRF150R overheating - engine overheats immediately after start-up and exhaust pipe turns red after a few minutes...have done some troubleshooting - checked oils/fluids, radiator good, holds fluids, hoses good, impeller on water pump spins, cooling system seems intact, but am losing coolant thru drain hose under engine...having trouble figuring out why overheating too quickly...any ideas? possible internal engine problem?
Any help/info appreciated - thanks! |

| | exactly the same problem, we just got home with the new bike, ran it for 15 minutes and the exhaust pipe is cherry red... hot. We plan a return trip tot the dealer tomorrow, let me know if you learn anything. I'll do the same. |

| | We've talked w/ some of the guys at a nearby Honda dealer (not where we bought the bike) and they couldn't provide insight beyond the areas we checked on the bike already...asking around w/ other people we know who are dirtbikers and have Honda bikes as well...will post if we find any new info...if you find anything helpful from the dealer would appreciate if you let us know...thanks! |

| Did more troubleshooting and think found fix - at least it seems better anyway:
Check carb pilot screw and make sure no more than 2 1/4 turns out of the factory setting...found the one on the bike was 4 turns out so getting too much fuel, mixture too rich...took it to zero and started going back 1, 1 1/2 turns...seemed ideal at 1 1/2 turns...seemed to be problem w/ jetting or carburation (and not cooling)... |

| we'll try it tomorrow. we ran it today after the honda tech told us this was normal, hard to believe as the heat seemed sufficient to melt the rubber tubing next to the exhaust pipe. thanks for the info.
aside from this problem, the bike is fast, fast, and fast.
