Has there been problems with obtaining accessories on this model? Specifically, Sissy Bar and Saddlebags.

Oh Yeah, I have a Retro VTX and have been unable to obtain accessories. I am waiting for National Cycle to finish their design/production of the Paladin Quickset 3. It's a lockable luggage rack and sissy bar combo. Looks pretty sweet. Owners of the VTXc with their versions of Quickset have good things to say about the product. I purchased some large bags at a local leather shop and am just waiting for production of saddlebag supports. Need them for my trip to Sturgis at the latest....Look at National Cycle....just be prepared to wait another 5 weeks (according to parts rep)...Good luck.

A. I got my VTX on March 29th, and if you look around there are some parts and accessories out there. I wanted to go with alot of the Honda stuff and my dealer has worked with me to get the stuff I wanted. The VTX is one of the hotest selling honda's going and in a few months there will be more shit out there than you can handle. I suggest that if you buy, first, that you compair prices on alot of the stuff that you find. You can do this several ways. Also, sometimes buying on the web is ok, but the time you paid for shipping, insure. and handling, the cost is almost the same as if you went to the dealer and then if there are problems your "SOL". Happy riding and keep the home fires burning.

No problems with some after market accessories. If you want exhaust pipes, you'll have to wait a month or two. Have purchased all my after market products (including Honda accessories) via the Internet, specifically Honda Direct Line. You will receive better prices ordering on-line and usually with free shipping and no sales tax. The previous comments have no basis in fact.

Just an update...I ordered sissy bar, luggage rack, mounting kit, and saddlebag supports from Custom World. I went through the VTXOA webpage sponsored by Honda. I believe it's called Direct line. My luggage rack has been shipped (should be her on the 14th) and the others are supposed to be ready sometime this month (May 2002). All in all about $450. Rotsa Ruck.

Yes, brand new bike so to be expected.

I'd suggest Custom World.

My steps (boiled down cause it was a bitch)

1. Join VTX Owners Association
2. Shop the honda direct line located on the VTXOA web page
click on Custom World and order your parts.

I've received the sissy bar and pad and luggage rack. Mounting kit and saddlebag supports are on back order but should be here in 1-2 weeks.

As far as saddlebags, I just went to a biker leather shop and picked up some bags that unzip at the yoke (they become small suitcases when checking into the motel....) Just be careful to measure your clearances (shocks and exhaust before you purchase) Good luck. Rock Hard, Ride Free.
