| | Dairyland/Sentry does not list the Katana as a high performance bike, and insurance premiums are about a third of what a GSXR would cost. This bike is not a dog either. The fact is, an average rider can get just as much performance, except speed in a straight line, as they could out of a GSXR, and be a lot more comfortable doing it. A GSXR only makes sense if you are a highly skilled roadracer, or have money to throw away, and just want to show off. |

| What size Gixxer do you have?
Go easy on the generalizations. While its true that a Katana is more comfortable generally, and has plenty of performance for street riding, there are still good reasons people would choose a supersport/bike for street riding too. I have a Kat 600 and a GSXR 1000, and get more enjoyment riding the GSXR. And I don't ride crazy either. It has better stability, handling, and most importantly, brakes than the Kat, and it doesn't vibrate the way the Kat does. The Katana is a great bike, and if you said there was only going to be one motorcycle ever made and it had to be the Kat or the GSXR, the Kat would be the better overall choice. But that's not the way it is, and people who choose the GSXR aren't just rich show-offs. Try an opinion, not just a blanket statement. (although, as I said, I do agree with most of your statement.)
