just bought a 900 classic and have only 160 miles on it so far. Is it ok to occasionally go through the gears full throttle (but not hi revving) once in a while? I am driving in town. A lot of stop and go, no constant speeds. Only had it up to 60mph indicated. i have heard that the speedos are not that accurate. Any pointers for break in. I want it to last and run great.

Its most important to vary your RPM and speed. City driving is perfect for a break-in. Dont worry about short power burst's. Above all, just relax and enjoy your new bike. Dont worry.

hey,
the dealer where i purchased mine said that it doesnt hurt to open her up a lil but dont go out and race it. at the same time babying it isnt that great durring the breakin period either. i followed this and my bikes running great. i dont know if its me but after 800 miles i felt my bike had more power, it definitly runs smoother. anyone else feel this way?
