| I've ridden the Lightning long, and was wondering if the buell bikes can pretty much keep up with other street bikes.
I'm sure they won't stand neck and neck,
but at least hang with the others not getting left to far behind. Seeing I really dig this bike.

| | yeah. through the corners you will beat them because the buell's have such low centers of gravity but on the straights they are not as fast as a 4-bangers because the horsepower it higher for them. when the most horse power to come from is only 103 you can expect it to go fast after about 150. that is why i love it because you will never need to go 150 unless you live in montana or germany. make you choice based on sprint performance and corenering ability, everything else falls second. their reliability is worlds better than it was 3 years ago so stay within 04' and up |

| On long straightaways, the Jap 4-cylinder screamers will leave you behind, but through tight, twisty sections, the Lightning rules!
Once you've sampled that incredible V-twin torque, nothing else will do. It's like comparing a Honda Civic to a Mustang V8. A lot less gearchanging, but a whole lot more fun with the throttle.
Even the 'small engined' 984cc City-X and Firebolt have more torque than you'll ever know what to do with.... go test ride one, and you'll see what I mean!! |
