| I am thinking of buying a 2002 Ducati 998R. But I am still considering a 996(S)(R). For the owners, is the 998R high-strung and a fuel eater? I want a bike that I can drive half of the day? How many miles to a gallon do you get? Would you consider the bike to be a city-driven bike or can it be used for city-to-city trips? If I am not exactly willing to keep this bike in shape like it was a collectable, should I consider some of the 996 models? The purpose would be a part-daily-driven and raced bike...998R or a 996 model? If the 996 is a choice, what year and model would be best for the purposes in hand? Thankz.

| Not a real fuel eater about 27 or so miles a gallon. The 998R are pretty expensive and only have one seat.. hard to carry a chic on it. If you need bragging rights or a track eater this is the one. No duck likes the city, they get hot on at you know where, the clutch gets squeeky and grabby. My choice if I was going your route would be buy a 996s for a track bike and the 998s for the road. The 998R would pay for both and it gets to be a mess taking all the crap off and on one bike to race it.
