Hi...can anyone explain the difference in performance of a parallel twin and a v-twin? For instance, is there any difference between a parallel twin and a v-twin that has the same cc ? I've been looking into the Speedmaster and also a Yamaha V-Star 1100 cc. The dealer at Triumph says the 865cc is a really fast bike, but it's hard to imagine 865cc being as fast as he described. And also, whats the difference between a shaft final drive and a gear final drive with an x-ring chain? I'm always afraid the chain's gonna break on a trip and I wont know how to fix it...For that matter; if the shaft breaks I wouldnt know how to fix that either! LOL...But in any case, I would like some opinions on which would be more dependable, and also how the ride of a gear is compared to the ride of a bike with shaft drive? I know this is a lot, but I trust this place for answers rather than a dealer who just wants to sell you their bike. Thanks guys!
