| Yes. I've heard it's very common with this bike. I bought mine in July and it's been somewhat unbearable in the Texas heat. I was able to overlook it because the bike does everything else just about perfect. I think we'll just have to deal with it running hot.

| | I read everything I could about the Triumph Sprint St prior to making my purchase and over and over again I heard complaints about the heat the engine produced and how hot the rider's legs got. Halfway through the 2006 production year, Triumph started putting a heat shield over the engine to help eliminate this. The 2005 and the earlier 2006 Sprints were "recalled" on this issue. If you call Triumph directly and provide them with the Vin# of your bike, they can tell you if the modifications have been done or not. Basically what they do is pack the area around the engine forcing the hot air out the vents in the front, where its supposed to go, instead of filtering back and right on to your legs. When I originally test rode mine, I found it to be hot yet the modification and apparently been done. They pulled the fairing off and found that the packing material had been folded over and therefore was not doing the job. They corrected it and it did help but I still find it hot enough at times where I need to move my leg away from the bike and get some air circulating around it to cool it off. The dealer told me that they can order more of the packing material from Triumph and pack the engine even more. You can also heat wrap the exhaust pipe to cut down on the release of heat onto your leg. I am going to do both of these. |
