| Would the KLR650 be a good long distance, epic touring bike? I just saw a show on TV OLN called "Long way around" where these 2 guys ride their bikes from Alaska to NY and other countries. How would the klr650 hold up on a really long, offroad ride?

| A friend and his brother, both on KLR 650's, went to Inuvik on the Artic Ocean up the Dempster highway from Saskatoon Canada. He raves about his bike and claims they averaged 100 kph or 60 mhp on the gravel sections after they adjusted to the wiggles. They saw some cruisers that appeared to be out of their element. I checked out the KLR yesterday and while it is fairly tall, it is not as tall as the KLM (which does have adjustable suspension). I have to say that I like its fuel capacity and long haul ability. It is my next bike and I am riding a cruiser that is slow and clumsy compared to the KLR.

| KLR's are legendary for durability and longevity. If anything, highway vibration may be an issue, but there are fixes for that.
