I recently bought a 2004 Savage, which I absolutely love. The only problem I have with it (other than the usual backfiring when deceleriting) is that it takes a LONG time to warm up. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

i always give mine about five minutes to warm up. if i don't it bogs down quick and has more backfires. i'm under the impression that it's due to the long travel for oil to get throught the engine and the fact that the factory settings in the carb(main cause of backfire as well) slightly floods the engine if you just start and go. i suggest finding a mechanic willing to pull out the brass plug over the fuel mixture screw and maybe taking apart the carb to remove the plastic spacer that makes the jet snap shut so fast. its against EPA regulations and the shop near my house refuses to do it.
