| In my opinion, NO.
As a new rider myself, (4 months, 350 miles + MSF), I think the amount of power could be difficult to control until you get use to twist throtles.
This is very important in tight turns.
I own a monster 620 (2002) and am quite happy with it. This will probably disagree with what a lot of dealers say.
I would not recomend a bike over 75 HP for a first bike. Although, once you start riding on the highways you may decide you want something bigger. It depends on how you ride. A friend of mine has done cross country trips on sub 100 HP bikes with no complaints.
I may just be picky, I learned to drive tractors at 14 and payed my bill for several years as a truck driver. |

| | Are you kidding me? You want a 749 for your first bike? I have to ask why you are buying a bike in the first place? My advice is to buy something used..maybe a mid-90's 600 sport bike of some description. Get some good seat time in and gain some experience. Figure out if you even like street riding. If all is well, then buy a 749 after a season or two in the saddle. Ducati Superbikes are NOT for beginners. My two cents... |

| | First off NO. Secondly, 350+ miles in 4 months. Is that because of mech problems or bad weather? |

| If you've never owned a bike - Start with another motorcycle. Then you will appreciate the Duc more. Also when you make a mistake and take a fall it would not cost you as much than wrecking your Duc. C'mon man - be practical. But what am I saying? I have a Duc too. Good Luck.
