| The GSX-R 1000 *is* the better bike. I've had roll-ons with R1s and it isn't any contest, the new ZX-10R might have a performance edge (or might not) but the GSX-R is raw, alive, fast and handles so well it makes you a better rider.
To be honest, I was surprised at how bad the R1 did against the GSX-R. I think the magazines are afraid to tell the truth, the Gixxer flat out destroyed the new R1. Heck, my buddy's 1999 R1 with a quality jet setup did better.

| They are all about the same unless you take them to the track. Most people here are brand loyal to what they bought. I think your top picks should be the R1 or the GSX-R1000. Both have the looks, power and horse power. If your taller than 6'4" get the R1.

| will agree with the answer below. the gsxr has more bottom end, out of the box. BUT a simple sproket change for the r1 to the same final drive ratio as the gsxr. wow what a diferance. 1 tooth down front ,2 up rear. then try the roll-ons. r1 for me

| The 2005/6 GSX-R is cleaning the field of litre supersports in the mags. Several of them have said something to the effect of "it's a shame that the other manufacturers have worked so hard, just to be beaten again by the King of the supersports, the GSX-R 1000." Bike magazine has a cover right now with a Gixxer front end on it and the words "Still the King" underneath it, for example. If I was to choose something other than the GSX-R, the only one for me would be the '06 CBR-RR, just because I like a bike to be lively.
