A friend is loaning me his 2003 Derbi GP1 while he's away for a few months. I've never ridden motorbikes or scooters. Any words of wisdom for me?

The only problem I have seen is seepage of coolant so keep an eye on your coolant, but always check it when in the morning when the engine is cold. Also the speedometer read faster than you are going on the one I had was 7 mph fast.

if you have decent balance on a bicycle, you'll do just fine. Just take your time to get used to the added power (acceleration and braking). Be very aware of your surroundings when you are riding. You are riding a smaller vehicle and the larger ones (autos) will easily overlook and/or underestimate you. Otherwise, there's nothing that can compare to the freedom of riding on two wheels! Have Fun and Ride safe!
