| I HAVE A VULCAN 1500 CLASSIC FI, I,M LOOKING INTO PURCHASING VINCE&HINES PIPES. THERE IS A SECTION OF THE BIKE WHERE THE PIPES THAT COME FROM THE MOTOR, TO IT SEEMS LIKE THE CATALYC CONVERTER, THEN 2ND HALF OF THE PIPE EXITS. MY QUESTION IS PURCHASING NEW PIPES, WILL I GET THAT SOUND THAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR OR DO I HAVE TO BYPASS THE CONVERTER TO GET THAT SOUND. IF THERE IS ANY MORE THINGS I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS SITUATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS

| I recently purchased Vance and Hines Longshots for my 2002 Vulcan Classic 1500. I left the converter hooked to the stock pipes when I removed them. It still didn't give me the sound I was looking for.The shop said it would be too loud if I removed the baffle on each pipe for they are not allowed to do so. When I got that badboy I removed the baffles and there it was, A nice loud rumble that I never expected.Turn the idleing down somewhat and boom, there it is. My wife ride's a sporster custom and she's envious a little. Hope this helps out, sincerely terribleatom

| Thomas:Get the Vance & Hines pipes; they sound good, are lighter than stock, and give good power--especially when used with a TFI system. Remove the ENTIRE stock exhaust system, which includes the black pre-muffler ahead of the rear tire. I did mine by just removing the header nuts at the cylinders, the attach bolts for the pre-muffler, and the tail pipe bolts at the rear right-hand side of the swingarm; a little [gentle] wiggling, and the whole assembly comes off in one piece. Good luck!
