Which of the Honda CBR600F4i and the Yamaha YZF600R makes the better daily driver / tourer / commuter, with a more upright riding position and a flexible engine that pulls well from low revs? (I am 5ft 11in, 165lbs)

They're both good with similar comfort. It's really a matter of preference. The Yamaha can be had cheaper most likely. I think the Honda F4i is smoother with definitely better fit and finish. The F4i engine is one the best engines ever engineered.

I would say the CBR600F4i. The YZF600R is still carbeurated (I can't spell that word.). This means it's a cold starter in the morning and most commuting starts in the morning. Also Fuel injection is just simply easier to deal with.
