Does the V rod really do 0-60 mph in about 3 sec? And if so why didnt they use the Vrod engine in the buell firebolt?

To heavy of a motor for a Buell, a properly set up Buell is faster than a V-Rod. The 1200 Sportster motor is a light motor, has more cc's, and is much simpler. It is more suited to the Buell.

The V-Rod really does 0-60 in 3 sec. With the Screamin' Eagle Performance Package, it's about 2.8 sec. Do you know what you do then? Smile, and shift into 2nd gear. :-)

Yes, it really does run that fast! The V-Rod was designed as the first in the future line-up of water-cooled Harleys, to meet future emissions demands. Putting the Revolution engine in the Buell line would dramatically increase pricing, which the Harley line is better able to withstand.

For the price issue, there are sport bike manufacurers like Ducati producing bikes priced close to $20,000 and those like Benelli that have limited editions priced much higher. It seems this would fit Buell very well to create a limited edition sport bike that would create a little lust and envy (even if it wasn't very profitable)! However, if the point about the weight is true, then I guess it makes more sense. Shame.

I dont know about the weight but the vrod motor is balanced and smooth, ive beaten many buells at lights with my night rod. as far as price my night rod was 13,700 new in april. I am thinking the issue with putting the motor in a buell may be a frame issue really. ive seen the vrod movie and they say the frame was made for this engine. maybee to modify the buell frame or make a new frame for this engine and radiator is more of an issue than it is worth to them.
