| i have a mint cond 89 kx500. what is the horse power and torque rating. is this bike anygood it kicks over hard you need 2 men and a boy to start it. is there a comp release avalable? thanks

| The bike has an automatic decompression system(the Honda CR500 does not), perhaps your bike is not Mint and somethings wrong with that? lol
It's also advisable to slowly push the lever through the the stroke until the motor comes to TDC, thats when the decomp engages, and thats when all motors start the easiest.
The kickstarter lever was upgraded in 2002 and the new one is much more robust(Replace it before you snap yours and are stranded, trust me), I snapped three in two years before they upgraded it.

| | I have a 89 kx500. It starts cold first or second kick provided . (1) go through the stroke slowly once or twice(2) get it top dead center or you are wasting your time and many kicks will follow. (3) Wear boots, put your weight behind the kick. once warm mine starts first kick all the time |
