I have an '02 Honda Foreman ES. Lately I've heard a noise in the engine after it has idled for a short while. It's kind of a fluttery noise that can come and go. Revving up the motor smooths it out. It has 4560 miles on it and has been well maintained (fluids, valve lash, etc). It soulds like the cam chain may be loose. I don't know if any of you out there remember the GM 3800 engine that would have the noisey cam chains back in the late 80's and early 90's, but I would say the sound is similar. Are cam chain guides a common problem on these engines with higer miles? Could there be something in the transmission that wears and can sound loose at idle? Any info would be appreciated. I'm not afraid to tear into it, I just don't want to get too overzealous if I don't have to.

Thanks.
