What spark plugs should be used. The bpr8es or br9es.The manual says bpr8es but some dealers say to use the br9es and some say the bpr8es.And if so to use br9es on the slx 1200 is there a reason why the manual stays different.

Br9es runs a tad hotter then the 8's. Boat tends to run alittle on the rich side. Hotter plug makes up for the difference without touching carbs.. Manual will always cover the manufacturer in all instances. Even if the spec doesnt make the boat run better....

not right...lower the plug number, hotter the plug..8 should be used for the reason of being rich from the factory. it should start better, idle smoother and get a nice snappy attitude. just remember, the lower the number the hotter the plug

I use the br9es and it seems to give me slightly more power. I'd stick with NGK brand and avoid champion. But that's my opinion
