| | Well, I've never had the 550, but I had a '97 Trail Touring 500 Fan. I'm guessing it's the same block, just bored out a bit more. This was a problem on my '97 as well. Have you noticed at what RPM it's engaging the clutch? Perhaps a lighter spring to have it engage at a lower RPM would help? I played with mine a little, just putting the spring in different positions, but never got it to perform better. I bought the liquid cooled version in an Indy Classic Touring, everything is the same except it's liquid cooled instead of fan. It's a night and day difference in power. That's all I have to offer you. |

| Having the same problems with mine it runs fast up to 55. Mine tops out at 65 I dont beleive this is right working on clutching right now.

| DROP MAIN JETS ONE SIZE
MAKE SURE THERE IS NO RESTRICTION ON THE FAN OUTLET
COULD CHANGE GEARING FROM 19/41 STOCK TO 21/41 WITH THE SAME CHAIN

| The Skidoo Formula 500 is a bullet though and is very light and very powerful for a 500cc unit - At low altitudes it can run with the 700 and 800s, so is not a good comparison sled.
