I am seriously thinking on buying the Atlantic 500. I think it looks awsome! How do they handle on the highway. Are they capable of keeping up with traffic on the highway? I want to go to Key West on it. Will it be comfortable enough for such a trip? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Partial answer is: This scooter so far has shown itself to be quite a capable touring machine. At 65-70 it is just loafing along.Any one cylinder bike, however smooth, will not be as vibration-free as a multi cylinder at highway speeds. But in defense of the Atlantic, the counter balance systems as well as the larger tires do help with a stable highway feel. The handling is precise and directional stability is more than adequate for most trips. How many miles are you talking about? After driving a GoldWing, one gets spoiled, but this mini-cruiser has plenty of good qualities to recommend it to anyone. I don't have a lot of miles on mine yet, so go to Apriliaforum.com and you can read other views. Happy Scoot'n, Beach Pup

Hi! I've had my Atlantic for some time now and I love it. It definitely has ample power on the highway, even with two passengers (about 325lbs total). It feels very stable throughout it's range albeit there is some vibration at higher speeds. I've had it up to 92mph with some room to go, but then I wussied out. I would definitely recommend this scoot. G

I actually own the Aprilia Scarabeo 500 which is one level above the Atlantic. It sell for about $500 more and comes fully loaded. I too was considering the Atlantic but thanx to Moto Britalia's fine recommendations ; we now own the Scarabeo. As far as the ride ; well let me say this. It cruises at 80+ like it's on rails. I have hit 101 on the highway and it will pass most cagers in your times of need. This is a better built ; better riding "superscooter" than a Suzuki Burgman or the Honda Silverwing. FOR ABOUT $1500 LESS.FOR AN ITALIAN BIKE NO LESS.

I peviously had a 125cc Scooter and wanted to trade up to a bigger engined one for longer distances. I tried several others of similar engine capacity but liked the design of the Atlantic best. I have only had the Scooter 3 weeks and have had no problems with it, in fact each time I go out on it the better I like it. Over the years I have had many motorcyles and scooters. This is the best yet. The furthest I have gone on it so far is only 70 miles but it was really comfortable, kept up with the traffic without a problem. However I live in England and where I live the roads are not very wide roads so ther is less opportunity for others to overtake, whatever you decide best of luck. I'm certtainly not disappointed with it.

Atlantic 500 is certainly highway capable with a top speed of 100 mph, and it is very comfortable compared to some other "maxis." Unfortunately as of this date the Atlantic 500 is no longer being produced or old in the US, so those of who own them now have collectors bikes.
