Today while riding my 2004 outlander 330, the odometer began switching to the word "FAIL" instead of showing the mileage. I had the ignition on the no lights position. When I swithed the key to the lights position, the odometer returned to normal. Can you tell me the cause of this?

Thanks,

The voltage regulator is going bad. This just happened to me while down at the Hatfield-McCoy trails. Bombardier will cover it if the machine is still under warranty (factory or extended). The fix is moving the regulator to the back near the battery so it won't overheat. Any questions email me at bmturner@sbcglobal.net.

The problem your having is the voltage regulator. Take it to a Bombardier dealer and they will fix it. But you will have to pay for it, because the factory will not.
