I have been looking to buy a 4x4 quad for about a month. I think I have setteled on the 03 650 Prairie. My concern though is can it take a pounding from hard trail riding???? My friend has an 01 and has many repairs to the bushing in his suspention/swing arm Please help me!

Yes they can take a beating. I have an 02 650 and it does quite well this thing is quite a beast when it comes to climbing hills.

First I would look at the 2005. Independent 4 wheel suspension and lots more. But! be aware that you nay have problems with the belt failing as early as 125 hours of moderate riding. I would love to get the 2005 but I am going to look at some of the shaft drives coming out in 2005. Good Luck.

I have an 03 with 1500 miles of total abuse and no problems at all. It seems to be extremely well engineered and built so far. I have had many machines and the only brand I would NEVER buy again is Polaris.

THis is very true but easy to avoid. I just found out that the Rear bearings are in need of re-greasing every 500 miles of riding or so. I bought the rear bearings and seal kit for $26 bucks and greased them up with waterproof marine grease. As far as repairs go all machines need bearings and stuff at some point. The prairie is strong agile and fast so people ride them more like a sport quad, this leads to bearing wear. I ride mine as hard as my friend with his RAPTOR, He can only lose me on the long strait away's!!! Plus I have to tow his sorry ass out at least once each time we ride! Lastly, they made some changes to the rear after 01' TIP, GET A SCOCK COVER FOR THE REAR SHOCK!!!!!!

The 650 is a lot better than the 01. They fixed a bunch of there problems that they had before. THe only problem with them is the belt. To solve that just put a Prairie 700 belt on it. THere a lot better belt.

I have a 03 650 and it has over 4,000 miles on it and those miles were rough!! It still runs like new, had to replace belt a few times! I bought a DAYCO belt, havent had any problems yet. It was $35.00. You will have the belt light come on after....100 hours or so, but it is easy to reset. hop you go with the 650, you will LOVE it!! Come to KY for some awesome riding!!!
