I have a 2005 sportsman, and the back stock plastic lock and ride rack (where the reflectors are glued to) vibrates real bad between itself and the vehicle plastic (I have a rack on it too but the noise is not comming from it), Ive tried tightening all the bolts but I dont think they put enough in the center of it and most are self starting with no nuts, so you cant tighten to much w/ out strippin them. Any ideas on how to fix this? Like anything to put between etc that would shed water and stuff. 4wheeler is great other then this noise.

Hey Anonymous - novia, Oklahoma:
I just bought a 2005 500 H.O . Sportsman and have the same annoying problem. Evry time I rev the motor, The back rack vibrates like mad.
The noise seems to be coming from the edges of the rack touching the body of the ATV. I plan to use a trick that I employed to isolate some rattles and squeeks caused by aftermarket (nerf bars, etc.) on my Jeep Rubicon.
I'll take some 3/8" or 1/4" reinforced, black fuel line and cut it in lengths to match the edges of the rear ATV rack. Then, with a razor knife, put a slice the fuel line lengthwise (so you can spread the hose open). Slip that on the edge of the rack, wedged between it and the body, and that should keep thing quiet. It'll be a tight fit so it shouldn't go anywhere. If it does, I'll add a little contact cement to the equation.
Hope this helps (both you and me).
